RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

In our research centers are concentrated all the activities of Design, Prototyping, Verification and Validation. All our R&D processes are based on the continuous increase of know-how, our experience in the field is the basis of our ability to innovate.

Innovation

Innovation is the driving force of our company. We investon average 7% of our turnover in Research and Development in our two Research Centers in La Spezia and Bergamo.

We build on our 60 years of experience in the field to design and bring to the rail market new products that improve rail operations.

The modern Research & Development Center of La Spezia is a space entirely dedicated to innovation in the railway sector, with a specific focus on the development of projects in the field of signaling and safety, in particular level crossings and operation of railway switches, having as reference the most rigorous safety standards (CENELEC, RFI supply specifications). In La Spezia are concentrated all the activities of design, prototyping, verification and validation of projects.

Here we have created a pole of excellence in electronic, mechanical and electromechanical research. Engineers and technicians work daily with the aim not only to design new solutions to offer to the market but also to constantly improve existing products.

The Research and Development processes are conducted by highly qualified personnel who adopt modern 2D and 3D CAD modeling and simulation techniques, cutting-edge experimental technologies and sophisticated instrumentation. Special Verification and Validation functions, independent from the project team, follow and monitor the entire design process until the final design is validated for use.

Wegh Group

Wegh’s second Research & Development Center is in Bergamo, Italy, and specializes in railroad equipment.

Here, too, a team of engineers is constantly working to find solutions that improve the quality of the track, whether it is designed for the railway network or for tram or metro networks. The Center takes care of the homologation of sleepers, turnout sleepers, ballastless systems with the aim of providing innovative products in the containment of vibration and noise and increase the performance of the systems of armament while lowering the cost of complete life cycle.

Moreover, our Research and Development Centers collaborate on an ongoing basis with the Italian and international university world, activating collaborations and specific projects.

Because tomorrow’s railway is born today also thanks to our technicians and engineers and their passion and competence.
