For more than 30 years, WEGH Group has been developing and implementing projects exclusively in Ballastless railway superstructure.

Green innovation was not long in coming at WEGH, with the Arianna® BALLASTLESS track system. A pre-compressed plate system to innovate and make the world we live in more sustainable. en

For Wegh, sustainability is not a fad, but a principle that has always been embedded in the company’s values.

Long life cycle

A guaranteed service life of 90 years. A low maintenance and lifetime cost that is not comparable to traditional weapon systems.

Our systems are highly safe and reliable according to current regulations.

Production of railway equipment

(Prestressed reinforced concrete)

WEGH Group manufactures a ballastless system consisting of precast pre-stressed concrete platforms (Arianna Slab System) resting on a base foundation, first designed in Europe in 1984 and successfully used on major railway lines ever since.

WEGH Group, through its Armamento division, is active in track construction for rail, tram and subway lines. Thanks to the team’s commitment and passion and long experience in the industry, our division is recognized as a qualified partner in the rail transportation industry.

Research is at the heart of the Railway Rails division’s innovative thrust: collaboration with leading universities and constant improvement of product quality and performance led our company to create in 1984, first in Europe among railway rail companies, innovative ballast-free precast prestressed rail systems, now increasingly adopted by railway operators worldwide.

Our Ballastless Solutions

WEGH Group, with the Armamento Business Unit manufactures ballastless reinforcement systems with prestressed concrete plates called the Arianna® system, which are ideal for any type of project, from traditional to high-speed lines. The division not only designs the ballast-free reinforcement in the three phases (feasibility, final and execution) but also implements it on site.

What are the strengths of Arianna®?

– duration;
– Increased geometric stability of the track;
– Low maintenance;
– cost of living;
– safety of the rail;
– Elimination of ballast pulverization;
– ability to convert a ballasted line to one without ballast without prolonged interruption of operations;
– sustainability.

Where is Arianna® applied?

– viaducts and tunnels because it reduces maintenance costs;
– stations, because it simplifies track cleaning.

The Arianna® system is available in two versions: the standard version, with superior features to traditional ballast, and the Plus version, designed for cases requiring high performance to limit vibration.

Slab Track Arianna®

Ariadne ® is a ballast-free system composed of precast prestressed concrete plates equipped with a special screed that provides optimized support, compensating for foundation irregularities.

The system is ideal for rail, subway, and tram lines, particularly for high-speed, high-traffic lines.
