The first project in Uruguay with WEGH Group playing a leading role in a joint venture with Portuguese partner Diorama has come to a successful conclusion.
This partnership gave rise to the company Asmody “Durmientes de Uruguay”, engaged in the manufacture of almost 600,000 sleepers for the reconstruction of the Ferrocarril Central that connects Paso de los Toros to the port of Montevideo.
A fascinating and complex challenge which, thanks to our know-how and the enthusiasm of everyone involved, turned into a real success.
Here are the numbers of the project:
– 90 employees directly involved in “Durmientes de Uruguay”
– 600,000 pre-stressed concrete sleepers produced
– 24 months of work in Uruguay
– 357 km of railway rehabilitated
We are proud to have made our contribution to a country like Uruguay, receiving much more in return from a human and professional point of view.
