In March 2022, WEGH Group had the honour of hosting CEN (European Committee for Standardisation) Working Group 46 for the drafting of Part 4 of the EN16432 series of standards. The latter will provide guidelines for the structural analysis of ballastless reinforcement where it is necessary to dampen the amplitude of mechanical vibrations due to railway, metro or tramway operation.
CEN is a public standardisation organisation whose mission is to promote the European single market economy by providing an efficient infrastructure for the development, maintenance and distribution of standards and specifications.
WEGH Group, already a UNI member, joined CEN’s Technical Committee 256, specifically Working Group WG46, as of 2018 with the aim of developing a new set of harmonised European standards for Ballastless Track Systems.
The representatives of the European railways visited WEGH Group production plant in Calcinate (BG), where they viewed the plants designed and built by WEGH Group for the production of railway sleepers, as well as the plant for the production of the innovative ARIANNA Slab Track ballastless track system.
