WEGH Group S.p.A. awarded in joint venture with other companies supplying sleepers CAP
The sleepers are used by RFI, on the whole national network, in the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the lines, activities that regularly also provides for the replacement of the sleepers. WEGH Group, in Calcinate plant, near Bergamo – one of the four plant based in Italy and owned by the company – produces various types of sleepers which meets RFI requirements, from the standard ones for ordinary lines, to those for high-speed lines, up to tornout bearers and the sleepers for special purposes.
The value of the order, for the portion related to WEGH in 2017, is about 9 million euro. WEGH has an experience of over 40 years in the design and production of sleepers cavp not only for the equipment of railway lines but also for metros and tramways. First in Europe, in 1987 Wegh also introduced the technology of ballastless prefabricated platforms, which provide considerable advantages both from a performance point of view and from an economic point of view due to lower maintenance costs required, and then to a lesser cost of the life Track Ballast.
