“Durmientes de Uruguay “, a company incorporated by WEGH Group in joint venture with Diorama SA, was awarded the supply of sleepers by Consorcio Constructor Ferrocarril Central for approximately 35 millions. The monobloc prestressed concrete sleepers, with a standard gauge of 1435 mm, will be used for the rehabilitation of the Port of Montevideo – Paso de los Toros line, a fundamental project that will facilitate access to the sea from the center of the country, promoting the economic development of that part of the territory. The production plant, manufactured by WEGH Group, will be a carousel system with a production capacity of over 2,200 sleepers per day and will be installed in the city of Florida in Uruguay. Production is scheduled to start at the end of August 2020 and will continue for 287 working days. With this JV, the WEGH Group is taking the opportunity to be an active part in the continuous new development of this beautiful South American country.
